And ThenThe Wind Changes

Listen closely, the echos of life surround you, the quiet sounds of what we have created, what has gone on and what remains. Nothing stays the same the wind will change and life will move in a different direction.

Listen. Can you hear the melody of your life, soft and distant? Can you feel the music of long ago gently, moving around you?

And then the wind changes

Listen closely. Can you hear the feeling of that first kiss? The warm sigh of leaning in closer, hearts beating together, the sweetness, tenderness and passion of being with the one you love.

And then the wind changes

Listen. The laughter is all around, the giggles and cackles of children, tickling your memories. You can’t help but smile, green grass, small tan legs running and jumping, children playing with such glee.

And then the wind changes

Shhh. Listen. Can you hear it? The sound of a childs heart break? Can you hear the invisible tears, see them crying out in silence? A loving look, an understanding heart, no words needed today, maybe tomorrow.

And then the wind changes

Listen closely. Can you hear the piano playing? And the harmonic crescendo of joyful voices singing in the house? Family and friends being swept away by the love in this place. I still hear it.

And then the wind changes

Listen. Can you hear the soft din of the rocking chair? The creaking of the boards beneath? Even now the sound of laughter when we sit and rock in tandem under the moon, fills the air.

And then the wind changes

Listen closely. Can you hear the symphony? The music of your life that rises and falls and rises again. Your joys, sorrows, regrets, laughter, loves, beginnings and endings. You wrote each note, each bit of poetry set to the musical tempo of the life you created, some of it in beautiful harmony and some a cacophony of missed notes and jumbled sound, but it’s yours.

And then the wind changes

Listen. Can you hear my heart? My words? The years have passed and the music has stopped but not the melody of heart. Our time together may be winding down, but near or far, passed or present I am glad I was a part of your music and that you will remain for a long time to come… a part of mine.

Forever
